You do not really need us to tell you that tomorrow is the Queensland State Election - the good thing is that the campaigning is over!! It was not that long ago that sections of our community could not vote at all. Queensland, for example, did not permit women to vote in State Elections until 1905 or to stand for Parliament until 1915, although the Commonwealth permit women to vote in Federal Elections and stand for Parliament in 1902. So, happy voting Queensland!

There is a train of thought that the property market and ‘business in general’, for that matter, “pulls up” leading up to an Election – so we are looking forward to the “breaks coming off” in coming weeks… Not that we have really felt that they were on, however, there have been a couple of properties, that really should have sold and have not – The Meriton and Cable Beach for example, both 3 bedrooms and priced right! The Nelson is another surprise and has now had a significant price reduction, as the Owners are committed elsewhere…

On the other hand the 2 bedroom apartment in Sunbird Beach Resort, listed at $485,000 has gone under ‘conditional contract’ this week! It did not last long, particularly considering it was only being presented to our own client database and did not ‘hit the market’, so to speak. Congratulations Carmen!

The Madison Point Contract, mentioned last week, is now ‘Unconditional’, albeit with a 90 day settlement!

We have two new listings this week – a beautifully presented and renovated apartment in ‘Hibiscus’, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, with 1 car space, listed at $535,000 - right on the beach!
