I am sure you will all agree that I do have a good excuse for not sending the Newsletter last week – and, no I can’t blame the red wine this time… Sadly, we must say a fond ‘fair well’ to our little red car ‘Bella’, as she was involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident last Friday… which left her far worse off than the driver – me! I came out relatively unscathed, thankfully - only a little bruised and battered and after an overnight rest in hospital – back to work… How lucky was I! Oh, and “we” were not at fault…

I have been truly overwhelmed and touched by the number of messages of concern, support and kind wishes of well-being from so many. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to think of me and of course, Bella! I feel so lucky to be part of this wonderful community of Main Beach and Paradise Waters. THANK YOU!

I would also like to thank all those lovely people, some of whom receive our Newsletter and others who may not, who stopped at the accident and provided such caring support and assistance. I was so pleased to meet the lovely nurse who had rushed to attend the scene of the accident. She popped into the office this week to see how I had recovered - Really, how special is this community!

Don’t worry, Bella 2 will eventuate – so please watch this space… And, please excuse the photograph - no matter what I did tonight, I could not turn the picture around...

Celebrations of mothers and motherhood can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honour of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele, but the clearest modern precedent for Mother’s Day is the early Christian festival known as “Mothering Sunday.”

Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Lent. Although it's often called Mothers' Day it has no connection with the American festival of that name. Traditionally, it was a day when children, mainly daughters, who had gone to work as domestic servants were given a day off to visit their mother and family.
