According to Regina Cutter Edwards, “Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life…”
We believe this is why the newly formed Main Beach Business and Tourism Association, Chaired by Margot de Groot, used the Butterfly as the symbol of this year’s Flower Festival, which will be The world's first 'phygital' Flower Festival – a ‘virtual’ Flower festival, which will be launched tomorrow, 27 June, 2020 at 9 am and will run through Saturday and Sunday. According to the Association, it will show case Main Beach through “a butterfly's view”.
The ‘virtual’ Flower Festival, is of course due to the fact that group gatherings are not permitted as a result of COVID-19. If, however, you happen to be in Main Beach and keep that ‘social distancing’, then we understand that there will be entertainment, art installations and great offers from the local shops. So, please call in to say Hello!
