Once again, a fortnightly Newsletter – my apologies… I do, however, have a very good excuse - I had the long weekend off and went to Longreach… Yes, a rarity for me, to have a weekend off, let alone ‘leave town’… A truly amazing experience, which I would highly recommend.
Denise Brown, known as DD, is the CEO of Outback Queensland and I had the pleasure of joining DD and a group of enthusiastic travellers to Longreach last weekend… DD says, “Remember your heart beats stronger in the Outback” and she is clearly stating a fact. Her passion for the Outback and the people of the Outback is understandable and contagious… I am lost for words to describe the experience, which really means you just must go and experience it for yourselves!
We were glamping, which was fantastic – drinks around the bushfire, lots of fun and laughter – DD, Outback Queensland and the people of Longreach certainly do it well… There is the Stockman’s Hall of Fame, the Qantas Museum, Ollie the Bull who walks the Main Street on Saturday mornings, the people of the outback who welcome everyone with open arms and the dark starry skies, which I cannot even describe… We have included a small collage of photos below to whet your appetite.
Longreach has always been on ‘our bucket list’ - my dear late husband was a ‘bushy’ and would have thoroughly enjoyed the trip. You may think that means it is ‘ticked’ off - No, I will return – there is so much to see and enjoy. I just love the people… I did provide a laugh or two along the way - to some of my fellow travellers, including when I said “I just chatted with some lovely locals – turned out they were from Brisbane on tour” …
As you can see here, I brought a little bit of the Outback to Main Beach Monday morning – I certainly gave a few of our Main Beach locals some laughs…
