Our saying this week is due to how ‘humble’ I felt when viewing a video that one of our local friends shared. The video was ‘The Blind Chef’ and showed a blind chef chopping vegetables… I watched in awe and shared with the Team to gain their reaction. One such reaction from Wendy was “What I got out of this video? If you put your mind to something and you are passionate about, it can be done.” How true!

I was then a little embarrassed when Wendy explained that a chef works with his knife through feel. I admit, I have never watched those cooking shows… Another laugh on me… She often says that I am her best ‘subject’ – for laughs, that is… Wendy’s husband is a Chef by trade, so as opposed to me sitting on the edge of my chair thinking the blind chef was going to chop his fingers off, she saw it as all but normal, although Amazing!

Last week we spoke of the ‘characters’ we meet in life. Well, this week, whilst ‘loitering’ on the footpath, as I do, I met one of those ‘characters’ with whom I became entrenched in conversation – nothing to do with Real Estate, just about life and life experiences... A ‘young’ gentleman (or gentle man...) with piercing blue eyes that engaged… We spoke of integrity and morals, amongst other things. He had no idea of the importance to me of those attributes… It all started as I said how much he reminded me of my brother – just in passing as he smiled and went by… He has come to mind as I found him incredibly ‘humble’ and it made me think of how many humble ‘characters’ we have met in this little Village over the years – once again, how lucky are we!

We do not generally broadcast our sales success and in keeping with the theme of our Newsletter, I hesitated to do so, however, to give credit to our Team I felt that I should mention that in addition to the settlement of XXV Breaker Street Penthouse, we had 4 settlements this week, giving us total sales of $9.6 million, with another $7.730 million of written contracts - not bad for a 'Boutique Agency'…

The Settlements this week were 284 Contessa; 43 The Meriton; 11B Sunbird and 92 De Ville. Congratulations to the happy Sellers and Buyers and of course to the MBPS Team!

As some of you may have read in recent media articles there is a ‘theory’ that Agents selling off market are not achieving the best results for their Vendors. We have found that not to be the case. Perhaps it depends on how the property is promoted… We find that an ‘off market’ sale often generates an expectation of urgency, which at times results in a ‘multiple offer’ situation, with higher than anticipated prices being achieved. We note that several of the articles circulated in relation to off market sales are published by the very companies that we pay to advertise online…

As you can see, we do not have any ‘new listings’ this week and we are ‘almost’ out of stock… Likewise in Property Management. We are, however, trusting that we will have more to report next week.
