This week Wendy and I were guests at the Celebration of Life for a very dear local friend, David, who will be sadly missed. The family requested ‘colour and smiles’ and everyone accommodated, as that is what David would have wanted... As those of you who know David, that was him, a true character, who enjoyed life to its fullest and a friend to all... He will live in our hearts forever! Thus, our saying this week, in memory of David.
Again, how blessed are we to live and work in this little village, where we are so fortunate to meeting special people like David!
You may have heard me say this before, as I say regularly to buyers, when they say “we are looking everywhere from Burleigh to Main Beach” – I say, “I will see you back here soon, as there is no better place than our Main Beach Village”. Now, I am sure I am bias and there are many of you who feel the same about your home ‘town’...
I was gifted a saying this week by the Seller of our New Listing in Oscar on Main, when he described Apartment 2 as a “pied-à-terre”, French for "foot on the ground", which in France is apparently used to describe a feeling, e.g. you are comfortable and at home in the environment you are in, it is ‘pleasurable’ - not necessarily a home, but the countryside, or the mountains – or, I am, sure ‘a Village’...
According to our friend Wikipedia “A pied-à-terre, French for "foot on the ground" is a small living unit, e.g., apartment or condominium, often located in a large city and not used as an individual's primary residence. The term implies use of the property as a temporary second residence, but not a vacation home, either for part of the year or part of the work week...” Interesting – given the percentage of part-time residents we have in Main Beach...
Apartment 2 Oscar on Main, is in fact more than that, it can of course be a full-time home, for those of us, who do not require the 2nd bedroom. This is a ‘full-size’ apartment, equal in living space to most 2 bedroom apartments. The apartment is an extraordinarily large 138m2 (including outdoor area) one bedroom with an enormous private entertaining terrace in addition to its balcony! It really must be viewed to appreciate the effortless allure of indoor-outdoor living... The apartment is being presented to our clients only at this stage, so please call for further information or to arrange a private inspection at any time...
We have also had another settlement this week, with the Contract on Apartment 8 Main Place settling, so we would like to congratulate the very happy Sellers and Buyers!
