Last week in our Newsletter we mentioned Boda Fide, meaning “genuine, real”... It was actually the name of a bottle of wine... This week I discovered that ‘bona fide’ means "in good faith" in Latin and according to my good friend “Google” –
“When applied to business deals and the like, it stresses the absence of fraud or deception. A bona fide sale of securities is an entirely aboveboard transaction. Outside of business and law, bona fide implies mere sincerity and earnestness”.
Possibly more the reason the words struck me last week, as I am often known to say “in good faith” … And, we certainly speak regularly of ‘optimism’ and the need to be forever ‘optimistic’ in our industry – to me ‘optimism’ and ‘faith’ in the product we sell or rent underlies much of our success in ‘achieving’ not only a sale or a lease, but a sale or a lease that maximizes the value of the asset – always our aim!
