We thought our saying this week is in keeping with the Labour Day weekend – this weekend. Yes, another long weekend in Queensland - for some - we will be here!

We will be ‘in and out’ as our sign on the front door states, as our Director of First Impressions, Wendy, and our Admin Team, have a well deserve day off, in keeping with the celebration.

Interesting, that given we are ‘one country’, the date of Labour Day varies through our States and Territories, with it known as ‘Eight Hour Day’ in Tasmania, who celebrate in March and ‘May Day’ in the Northern Territory, who also celebrate this weekend... Eight Hour Day actually seems more in keeping with the origin of Labour Day – “in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.”

I read somewhere that working days were “arduous, where some employees would work up to 12 hours a day, six days a week.” That would now be known as “Small Business Day” …

Speaking of ‘one country’ do you ever wonder why we have all of these States and Territories? All with different Governance, Legislation, etc. Now, that is potentially a subject for another day and I am sure most will know the answer, however, I found a very interesting explanation on the website “Museum of Australian Democracy” (link below). 

Speaking of working – we have been doing just that, notwithstanding all the holiday festivities. We have 3 New Listings, an Unconditional Contract and we have had 4 Settlements, including a ‘Conjunction Sale’, i.e. not our listing...

Our New Listings are:

Thankfully, they all settled this week simultaneously! Congratulations to all parties and thank you to our Sellers for entrusting MBPS with the sale of one of your most valuable assets – your home! Congratulations also to the Team!

Apartment 76 Spinnaker also settled this week, so we would like to congratulate the happy Seller and Buyers. Once again, thank you!
