Weirdness is like a fine wine, it gets better with age...
Our saying this week came about as I was researching and found a long list of interesting sayings about ‘normal’ and ‘weird’ - I found them amusing and interesting... Recently I have been referred to as a ‘weirdo’ by one of our Team on a regular basis - in what I would describe as a ‘term of endearment’... I do understand the comment, as I know that I often think ‘outside the box’, so to speak, and I often call myself “quirky” - after all we do have a ‘duck’ as a mascot and on display at our shop front... Locals and visitors love Mr. Jeeves – he is potentially the most photographed Duck in the world.
Then on Friday evening around 5:30pm I was speaking on the footpath to one of our locals who was walking their dog and a young lady approached and said "may I give the dog a treat?" and then said “I know I am a weird, I lost my dogs 2 years ago but still carry the treats in my bag”... I said that’s OK I have been called weird a lot lately – on that note a friend approached and said “aren’t we all a little weird”... Then I noted another of the sayings, “Your weirdness is your superpower; don’t let anyone dull your shine”, which was in keeping with our Newsletter last week, so I could not resist sharing that and others on the list –
• Don’t be afraid to be a little weird, it’s what makes you interesting
• Being weird is just another word for being unique
• Let your weirdness shine bright like a diamond
• Normality is a paved road; it’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it
• Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly
• Don’t be afraid to be different; it’s what sets you apart from the rest
Don’t get me wrong our ‘differences’ only makes our business stronger!
