It’s not what you know, it’s who you know...
I am sure everyone knows our saying this week. Well, it is certainly true in Real Estate, and I am sure in most walks of life...
The theme for this week’s Newsletter came about as we had a Settlement this week of a property that was not only a ‘quiet listing’ and sold ‘off market’, but a ‘secret’ ... I know - how do you sell a secret? Thus our saying... ‘It’s not what you know, it’s who you know’ or is it “It’s not what you know or who you know, but who knows you”? In this case it was both – I knew someone who knew someone who wanted to sell, they referred them to me to sell very confidentially – as luck had it Mary knew someone who wanted to buy – the jig-saw puzzle fell into place... We would like to congratulate the Seller and the Buyer, who are pleased to have met ‘virtually’!
It would appear that the ‘secret’ was, or is not, a secret anymore, as today someone else we know came looking to buy an apartment in the same complex, as they, according to them, would have bought that apartment had they known... So, if you would like to sell a 3 bedroom apartment in Kings Row South with river and hinterland views, please let us know. We sold such an apartment in need of some TLC for $1,310,000...
Confucius said, "To know that we know what we know, and that we do not know what we do not know, that is true knowledge”...
Speaking of learning and knowledge and further to our newsletter last week about the ‘gluteus maximus’ and smack on the bottom... I learnt from my friend Jane this week that – “smack on bottom = hand of reason to seat of learning”. I have not been able to establish the origin of the saying, other than Jane. So, thank you Jane!
