Our theme was gifted to us this week by one of our part time locals, Cathy, who said “it is the rich tapestry of life”, actually being positive about a negative... I liked the saying so I explored it’s usage via my friend Google and I came up with some interesting articles and speeches. One in particular, made me sad to a degree, however, it also made me feel good – I feel that I have been gifted with a ‘rich tapestry of life’ ...

I have shared a link below to the speech ‘What a Tapestry WE Weave’ By Dean D. Guerra... In which he commences with – ”Maya Angelou once said, “We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.” (sic) ... It seems that word ‘diversity’ is sticking with me – is this AI again ...

Another I liked, was an article written by Shivananda Salgame, “Stitching the Tapestry of Life: Reflecting on the JOURNEY CALLED LIFE” – in one paragraph ‘Creating a Masterpiece’ – he wrote, “Ultimately, life is an art form, and we are the artists, crafting our tapestry with each passing day. The events and moments we encounter provide the palette of colors with which we paint our existence. Through self-awareness, mindfulness, and conscious living, we have the power to transform our tapestry into a masterpiece. By savoring the present, cherishing the past, and embracing the future, we create a reflection of life that is uniquely our own” (sic) ...

I have shared this saying and these snippets as I realise, we as real estate agents are merely another thread in the ‘tapestry of life’ of those we meet along the way, and we can only hope that we assist to weave that thread into a creation of their own or another piece of their jig-saw-puzzle...

Well, our 'clearance sale' continued after our last Newsletter with the end of 2024 bringing another 2 Contracts of Sale on Monday the 30th. Yes, notwithstanding almost all but ‘we’ had gone on leave, including the Solicitors... Those Contracts are not yet unconditional, so ‘unmentionable’ for now.

We also have 2 New Listings for 2025 - a 3 bedroom Sub-Penthouse in The Meriton and a 2 bedroom Apartment in Ocean Sands.

Changes to foreign resident capital gains withholding

We thought we would add a little ‘information’ section to our Newsletter, as and when we see a ‘snippet’ that maybe of interest – News, so far this year –

The Australian Government recently made changes to the rules relating to foreign resident capital gains withholding.

As of the 1st of January 2025, the withholding rate increased from 12.5 per cent to 15 per cent and the $750,000 property value threshold was removed, meaning the withholding rules apply to all property sales.

We welcomed Dipcro Pastry to the Tedder Avenue precinct this week for their 'Soft Opening'. What a welcome addition to the community they will be, serving delicious Patisserie items and Coffee. They will reopen on Thursday 16th January for the second week of the 'Soft Opening' giving you the opportunity to taste some of their impressive creations.

They were kind enough to deliver delicious tasters for us this week – so thank you to Michael and Evelyn Njam and their Team, who got our Team hooked on the Dipcro delights – they were delish!
