No Stress, Only Success...
Many years ago, not long after we had created MBPS, a friend of mine gifted me with our saying. She did so, as it rhymed with MBPS. I constantly hear myself saying it, both to myself and to many others – it just seems appropriate as often property transactions can be ‘stressful’ for both Sellers and Buyers... We have endeavoured to eliminate ‘stress’ from our business and the lives of others, where we are able... Even the word is band in our organisation – we are at times ‘under pressure’, of course...
Again, for many years I have been receiving literature from Dr. Helena Popovic, an authority on improving brain function, after attending a ‘talk’ she gave on preventative measures for Dementia and Alzheimer’s. A short, but funny story – a part-time local and friend, who I rarely see, invited me to attend a ‘talk’ by a renowned Doctor. I had no idea of the subject and said ‘yes’ only as an opportunity to ‘catch up’ with my friend... We arrived to register and the lovely lady greeting us said, ‘so, which one of you is the carer’ – it was a presentation/education for ‘carer’s and their loved ones’ ... I did walk away with some valuable tips – including, learn a musical instrument or a foreign language...
This week I received a circular from Dr. Helena speaking of a new medication which is currently under trial and is showing promise in slowing and possibly even stopping cognitive decline in people with Alzheimer’s – an interesting article, however, my interest was in her comments on ‘stress’ –
She wrote: “I’ll leave you with a key principle of turning stress into success: 80% of stress management is self management. We don’t see things as they are; we see things as we are. We can’t always change what’s going on around us, but we can always change what’s going on inside us. We get to choose our attitude in any given situation. Sometimes our stress is exacerbated, if not caused by, the things we tell ourselves about a situation, rather than the situation itself. So here is an acronym to consider whenever you feel stressed: STRESS = Self Talk Ruining Exciting Stimulating Situations. Simply entertain this as a possibility, and begin asking yourself empowering questions:
• How could I view this situation in a more favourable light?
• How could I turn this to my advantage?
• What’s one step I can take to improve things?
• How might this make me stronger, more resourceful and more resilient?
Embracing challenges is one of the most powerful ways to maintain excellent brain function as we age. Therefore, if we view stressful situations as an opportunity to grow and learn, stress can actually boost our brain”.
We could not help ourselves, but to share...
Many of you by now will know that Michelle Buchanan, my ‘CC’ (chaos co-ordinator) for the past 2 years, has moved into Sales as my ‘Associate’. That is the preamble of becoming a Sales Consultant – well Michelle ‘launched’ herself into Sales this week and has worked with both Carmen and I in achieving 3 Contracts of Sales. We would like to say “congratulations” Michelle! As always it is a TEAM effort, however, we particularly wanted to welcome Michelle to the Sales Team. The Contracts are not yet ‘mentionable’, so please watch this space...
David and our Property Management Team have also been very succesful this week - we are now officially 'out of stock'... So, if you are considering leasing your property, please do not hestiate to contact us to obtain a rental Appraisal.
We, with our positivity and optimism, have scheduled Open Homes both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, notwithstanding the threat of Cyclone Alfred. So we are hoping to see you there...
